Leeds United morning digest as Raphinha backed by a legend

Here is the Leeds morning digest for Friday, October 9.

Raphinha’s agent Deco makes bold Leeds United declaration

Deco, the former Barcelona midfielder and agent of new Leeds signing Raphinha, has tipped his client to make history at Elland Road.

The Brazilian arrived at Leeds on deadline day from Rennes, and he has now been tipped by his famous agent to make a big impact at the club.

Deco told Lance: “Raphinha is a player of incredible quality, he can adapt to the most diverse styles of play. It was like this where he went and, in the Premier League, it will be no different.

“Especially at Leeds, who play a purposeful, offensive football, he has everything for it to work out. I’m sure he will make history.”

Deco is not the only Portuguese midfielder who is a fan of Raphinha, and you can read more about that here .

Leeds planning January raid for Ghanaian defender

Leeds United are interested in defender Stephan Ambrosius, according to reports.

Ambrosius, 21, is a German youth international currently on the books of Hamburg, and according to Ghana Soccer Net , he has been identified by Victor Orta as a target for Leeds.

The report states that Leeds tried to sign the defender this summer after he ‘popped up’ on their radar but they ultimately failed to secure a deal.

He is currently in the final year of his contract with Hamburg, and that means Leeds could agree a pre-contract deal with him in January if they remain interested.

France U21s boss Sylvain Ripoll sends message to Leeds United over Illan Meslier

Sylvain Ripoll is delighted that French U21 goalkeeper Illan Meslier is performing well in the Premier League.

The goalkeeper joined Leeds on a permanent basis from FC Lorient this summer after a strong loan spell and has won the number one spot ahead of Kiko Casilla.

His form has not gone unnoticed back home with U21 boss Ripoll delighted with Meslier’s performances.

He told L’Equipe (via Sport Witness): “We are delighted to see Illan at this level, he finished last season well and started the new one very well.

“We will see how things develop. I can only be happy to see starting goalies, which has not always been the case with the under-21s.”

Meslier himself says he is delighted with the game time he is getting at Elland Road.
