Leeds United mock Tottenham after European Super League collapse as fixture changes announced

Leeds United have taken a dig at Tottenham Hotspur following their withdrawal from the European Super League.

The proposed plans for a 'breakaway' league have now been paused, with all six English teams, that initially signed up for Florentino Perez's competition, pulling out of it.

Spurs, along with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United were the 'Big Six' clubs from the Premier League to announce their withdrawal yesterday (Tuesday) evening.

The plans were scrapped after mass uproar from football supporters, as well as other key figures in the sport.

Leeds players wore t-shirts that read "Football is for the fans" and "Earn it" before their 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Monday night.

Now that Spurs have pulled out of the controversial competition, the Whites' Twitter account have taken the opportunity to mock the north London club.

Leeds' fixture with Tottenham - who are now without a manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho on Monday - has been changed to Saturday, May 8 at 12:30pm, live on BT Sport.

The Yorkshire club tweeted: "Next month's fixtures against Brighton and former Super League side Tottenham Hotspur have been selected by BT Sport and Amazon Prime", before a link to the club's official website.

The Whites will now face Brighton a week before the Spurs game, live on Amazon Prime Video at 3pm.

It's not the first time Leeds have taken a dig at one of the 'Big Six' for their initial decisions to participate in the breakaway league.

On Monday, when the full-time whistle blew, the Whites tweeted: "FULL TIME: #LUFC hold Super League side Merseyside Reds to a 1-1 draw after late Llorente equaliser" - which, at the time of writing, has over 56,000 retweets and more than 194,000 likes.
