Leeds United midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi linked with return to Japan following injury-hit loan spell

As fans await the first movements of Leeds United's summer transfer window, reports are suggesting that Japanese midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi's time at the club could be coming to an end.

Yahoo's Japan site reports that Ideguchi has received a 'formal offer' to return to his former club Gamba Osaka although apparently neither the player or Leeds United have yet decided on Ideguchi's future.

It bring an end to Ideguchi's time in West Yorkshire which has not gone as either the player or the club would have wanted.

Ideguchi signed for Leeds United from Gamba Osaka in January 2018 on a four-and-a-half year contract and was sent straight out on loan to Cultural Leonesa, a club linked to Leeds United through the Aspire Academy.

He made five appearances for the Spanish Segunda Division side but failed to make much of an impression which saw him miss out on a space in Japan's World Cup squad which he had looked certain to be included in before his move away from Japan.

After returning for Leeds for pre-season under Marcelo Bielsa last summer, Ideguchi was loaned to German second division side Greuther Furth. After a bright start with four appearances and a goal by the end of September, Ideguchi suffered an ACL, ruling him out until May although he did a couple of appearances before the end of the season.

Ideguchi is yet to make an appearance for Leeds United.
