Leeds United midfielder ready for exit as he opens up on fresh chance

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Bogusz has admitted that he would like to stay in Spain after his impressive start to life at UD Ibiza.

Bogusz is currently in the midst of his second consecutive loan spell in the second division of Spanish football but is enjoying a far more fruitful spell this season than last.

The 20-year-old spent last term on loan at UD Logrones but started just nine matches, where he scored just one goal and provided one assist.

This year, though, he has already started as many games as he did in the whole of last season and has trebled his goal tally in that time frame, suggesting he has adapted to life in La Liga Two much quicker this time around.

And speaking to Super Express, via HITC, Bogusz is enjoying his spell in Spain much more this season and claimed he would like to remain at the club beyond the current loan agreement.

“Honestly, I didn’t like it at Logrones (the club he played for on loan in 2020/21). We mainly defended on the pitch.

“Ibiza is completely different. We play a lot here and want to keep the ball. It suits me. It suits my style. If I could, I would like to stay in Spain.”

According to Polish outlet Sportowe Fakty, Leeds would be willing to allow Bogusz to stay at Ibiza beyond his loan spell, providing a £7 million buy back clause is included in the deal.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa is clearly a fan of the Poland youth international having handed him three appearances during his time at Elland Road and so there may be hope yet that he can have an impact in future seasons at the club.
