Leeds United may need to move quickly to land striker target nicknamed 'little panther'

Leeds United have been touted as a possible next destination for exciting forward Alberth Elis. The 26-year-old spent the 21/22 campaign with Bordeaux, netting 9 goals in 20 appearances for the side despite their relegation from Ligue 1.

A quick centre forward, the Whites had struggled for attacking options during the whole of last season, with top scorer Patrick Bamford starting just seven Premier League games. Elis could perhaps provide much needed competition in that department.

It is thought the former MLS striker will have the attention of many later this year, with the valuation unknown, Bordeaux reportedly rejected a €21m (£17.5m) bid for the 26-year-old from a Chinese club in January. The player has also been capped 53 times for Honduras at international level.

According to French newspaper L’Equipe, they have reported that Leeds are showing a keen interest in signing the player, with offers already thought to have arrived from other willing clubs too.

With Bordeaux relegated from the French top-flight last season, Elis is thought to be on the move again and does pose qualities that could enable him to succeed here in England.

Joe Gelhardt is another name that will hope to kick on following a strong debut showing in the top flight, but with 26-year-old Elis already cutting it against some of Europe's best, Marsch must act fast if he wishes to make the forward his third summer recruit.
