Marcelo Bielsa is renowned across Europe for creating and even reinventing tactical trends.
That hasn't changed at Leeds United, with opposition managers left stuck to fathom a solution to the Whites man-to-man marking system in open play.
It's seen Leeds go toe-to-toe with the Premier League's brightest minds this season, competing against Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal both at Elland Road and on the road.
On Sunday, Leeds' next assignment is a trip to the Emirates Stadium. Their last meeting played out a 0-0 draw, with Arsenal lucky to escape with a point following Nicolas Pepe's red card early in the second half.
Leeds hit the woodwork four times on that day but were unable to find a breakthrough. Mikel Arteta will be keen to find a solution to United's dominance ahead of their weekend fixture.
Ahead of the match, training footage from the Arsenal camps has revealed a potential peculiar set up that Arteta could unleash against Leeds.
In preparation, the Gunners played out a full 11-a-side match in training, with Pablo Mari and Gabriel at centre-back for one side, with David Luiz and Rob Holding with the opposition.
What's unique is that both Gabriel and Mari are left-footed options, which is becoming a rarity in today's game. The stock of centre-backs comfortable on their left side has risen, as a result of the passing angles it offers when building possession from defence.
It was a key reason why Arsenal targeted Mari and Gabriel on permanent contracts in the summer.
Whilst there's no obvious reason the pair couldn't feature together, it is very unique to see two left-footed defenders to play in the same back four, though Pascal Struijk and Liam Cooper have done so on a few occasions this season.
In fact, Leeds often field seven left-footers in their starting XI, with Illan Meslier, Cooper, Ezgjan Alioski, Jack Harrison, Rodrigo Moreno, Raphinha and Patrick Bamford, with Struijk and Diego Llorente taking that tally to potentially eight.
Arsenal have used Gabriel and Kieran Tierney in the same back three, though they haven't played together in a flat-four, with Rob Holding a near ever-present in Arteta's first-choice defender when fit.
It remains to be seen whether the purpose of Arteta's training drill was a mere coincidence or a plan of action, though, given the precision of his tactical thinking, you'd be forgiven for expecting the latter.
