Leeds United making little progress in deal for £12m Liverpool winger wanted by Aston Villa and Rangers who flopped at Bristol City

Leeds United are making little progress in a deal for Ryan Kent.

Prominent Elland Road journalist Phil Hay shared the news on Twitter, revealing that a deal to bring the Liverpool winger to the club has not made much progress.

Instead, Leeds will take Jack Clarke back on loan after selling him to Tottenham Hotspur.

The news could well be a boost to Aston Villa and Rangers, both of whom are keen on former Bristol City winger Kent.

Kent, who flopped at the Robins in 2017/18, spent last season on loan at Rangers and impressed, leading to a lot of demand for his services this summer.

The Reds are said to want £12m to sign him on a permanent basis, which Villa can only afford.

Instead, Rangers are keen to take him back on loan an idea that has been shot down by BT Sport's Darrell Currie.

Currie tweeted: "As it stands Liverpool have no interest in loaning out Ryan Kent again.

"Klopp wants to see him in pre-season to assess his development. Things might change later in the window but Kent himself will have to push very hard to make this happen.

"If a sizeable bid was made and Kent himself wanted to go then Liverpool would be more inclined to sell.

"Over to the Rangers board."
