Any move for Nottingham Forest target Dwight Gayle by Leeds United will be constrained by financial fair play requirements.
That's according to The Athletic, who say Forest is a likely destination for the Newcastle United striker.
Gayle is a prolific Championship striker, with 59 goals in 100 games at second-tier level.
He is currently out out-of-favour at the Magpies, the former Crystal Palace man yet to start a Premier League game this season and has just 43 minutes of League football under his belt.
At West Bromwich Albion last season he scored 24 goals en route to a play-off semi-final place, while he fired Newcastle back to the top flight with 23 strikes in 2016-17.
Forest are currently fourth in the Championship ahead of tonight's trip to Millwall, with 24 goals scored after 18 games.
Eight of those have come from Lewis Grabban alone, with Sabri Lamouchi thought to want a striker in the January transfer window.
Crystal Palace's Connor Wickham has also been linked with Forest .
