Leeds United make open trials decision as youngsters given big Thorp Arch chance

Leeds United have announced that they will be holding open trials with potential places in the club’s academy up for grabs.

They will be taking place in December, during the break from schools over the Christmas period. The trials will be available for boys between school years 1-10 (ages 5-16) as of the current academic year.

This will give youngsters who believe they have the ability to play for Leeds the chance to show their talent and hopefully earn a place in one of the youth squads.

Players such as Kalvin Phillips, James Milner, David Seaman and Gary Speed all came through the academy at Thorp Arch and young supporters will have the chance to follow in their footsteps.

This continues the club’s conscious effort to improve the development system after making significant investment in players for the U18 and U23 squads in recent years.

The strength of the academy is highlighted by the fact that Crysencio Summerville, Charlie Cresswell, Joe Gelhardt, Cody Drameh and Stuart McKinstry have all made their Premier League debuts already this season.

That pathway from the academy to the first team is one of the strongest in the top flight and explains why so many highly-rated youngsters continue to join the club.

That should provide hope for any youngsters that are potentially interested in signing up for December’s open trials.
