Leeds United make key deadline day signing ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Leeds United have announced the loan signing of goalkeeper Illan Meslier from French Ligue 2 side Lorient ahead of this weekend’s Championship clash with Nottingham Forest.

The 19-year-old has joined for the whole of the 2019/20 season and is set to serve as understudy to Leeds' current number one Kiko Casilla.

He could be included in the squad for the sell-out Elland Road encounter with Sabri Lamouchi’s Reds this weekend, subject to international clearance.

The Whites had sold back-up Bailey Peacock-Farrell to Burnley earlier in the month and were keen to sign a swift replacement.

One man that won’t be facing the Reds this weekend is Kemar Roofe following his move to Anderlecht.

Roofe scored the controversial equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Elland Road last season, with replays showing he bundled the ball over the line with his arm.

Forest meanwhile, will also have a new stopper in their ranks following the signing of Caen's Brice Samba on Wednesday evening.
