Leeds United make Jean-Kevin Augustin loan decision and await permanent transfer outcome

Jean-Kevin Augustin’s loan to Leeds United from RB Leipzig will not be extended after it officially came to an end last night.

After just 49 minutes of football since arriving from Germany at the end of January, the Whites have decided against a short extension for the final six matches of the season.

Extensions for Illan Meslier, Ben White, Jack Harrison, Helder Costa and Gaetano Berardi were all confirmed last month, but the French striker was conspicuous by his absence.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa has given nothing away in his press conferences since football returned and even hinted Augustin was training without any problems last night.

There is still an agreement in place for the Whites to permanently buy the 22-year-old if they win promotion to the Premier League.

LeedsLive understands it is an obligation to buy with promotion, but it remains to be seen what loopholes there may be for player or buyer if they don’t want it to happen.
