Leeds United make Jean-Kevin Augustin decision as Marcelo Bielsa delivers double injury update

Here is your Leeds United morning digest for Thursday, July 2.

Jean-Kevin Augustin decision made

Jean-Kevin Augustin’s loan to Leeds United from RB Leipzig will not be extended after it officially came to an end last night.

Extensions for Illan Meslier, Ben White, Jack Harrison, Helder Costa and Gaetano Berardi were all confirmed last month, but the French striker was conspicuous by his absence.

There is still an agreement in place for the Whites to permanently buy the 22-year-old if they win promotion to the Premier League.

LeedsLive understands it is an obligation to buy with promotion, but it remains to be seen what loopholes there may be for player or buyer if they don’t want it to happen.

Bielsa addresses Cooper and Dallas injuries

Marcelo Bielsa has spoken about the injuries sustained by Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas during the 1-1 draw with Luton Town on Tuesday.

Dallas is not expected to feature in this weekend's clash with Blackburn Rovers, while a further update on Cooper is likely to take place ahead of that match.

"He feels something in the lower back/glutes, but don’t think he’s going to play in the next match," he said on Dallas.

"It’s a kick, very painful in the side, but don’t think it’s a heavy injury," was his assessment on Cooper.

Radrizzani admires Brighton

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani says Brighton are an example to follow as he aims to re-establish his club in the Premier League.

"Over the next five years, we will continue to build a club and infrastructure capable of succeeding in the world's most competitive league," he told FIFA's Professional Football Journal.

"As a model, I look at clubs like Brighton and the success they've achieved gradually on a sustainable budget. I want to take a similar approach.

"When we come through the global pandemic, I believe we will be in a good position for the immediate future and also to build for the longer term."
