Leeds United maintain 100% record with Leicester win and are on course for 'invincible' season

Marcelo Bielsa's introduction to the Premier League has hardly been a quiet one with Leeds United.

The Argentine manager has caused pundits to lock horns over their takes on whether the team should amend their style, show more respect and set up more pragmatically.

One thing is certain: Leeds would not have beaten Leicester City without a clear game-plan, one which is unique to them throughout Europe's major leagues.

Even with a majority Championship squad, Leeds' past two seasons have acted as the running jump for their great start to Premier League life.

With Rodrigo and Raphinha's injuries against the Foxes, the Whites finished the game with an eleven which could have easily resembled one of their Championship teamsheets just a year ago.

It is perhaps little surprise that given how well-versed they are in Marcelo's methods, that they have managed to outrun every Premier League opponent they have faced so far this season, including some twice.

For 20 consecutive fixtures, Leeds have collectively covered more ground than their opponents. Against Leicester and Newcastle, home and away, the Whites have emerged triumphant in the running stakes, which goes to show that notions of burnout may be wide of the mark.

Considering they have managed to sustain these energy levels beyond the halfway stage of the season, it is likely they will continue this run well into the second half of the season.

It is possible the team will encounter a side who raise their game to a level which surpasses Leeds' breathless approach, but as yet no Premier League opponent has managed.

Due to fixture rearrangements, Southampton remain the only top flight club to be outran by Bielsa's side - because the two sides have not met yet for the first time this season.

Each week, the team averages around 114 kilometres ran, which almost certainly is greater than the Premier League average.

The real test will be if Leeds can go an entire 38-game season without being outran. It would be a unique prize, but so far their 'invincible' 100% record remains intact.
