Leeds United have endured a difficult start to the season with just one win in their opening eight Premier League matches.
The Whites sit just one place above the relegation zone and are yet to get close to hitting the heights they reached on so many occasions last season.
And if Leeds are to earn just their second win of the campaign on Saturday, they will have to overcome a Wolverhampton Wanderers team they have struggled against in recent years.
Leeds have lost each of the previous five meetings between the two sides, with their last victory coming almost exactly five years to the day when a Silvio own goal earned Garry Monk’s men an important 1-0 win.
But since then, it has been nothing but misery for the Whites on their fixtures with Wolves, including last season, when the West Midlands side completed a league double courtesy of two 1-0 triumphs.
In the fixture at Elland Road, Leeds found themselves in control for the majority of the 90 minutes but were undone by a deflected Raul Jimenez strike in the second half.
The return fixture was an almost mirror image of the first encounter too, as Marcelo Bielsa’s side missed a host of opportunities before Adama Traore’s long-ranged effort bounced off the post onto Illan Meslier’s back and into the net to secure Nuno Espirito Santo’s side another narrow win.
Although the footballing gods appeared to be shining brighter on Wolves in both matches last season, it is a hoodoo that Leeds will be looking to lift in as they look to get kick start their season into gear.
