Leeds United have seen a bid rejected for Wigan Athletic youngster Sean McGurk, according to reports.
The Whites have been keen to bolster their Under-23 squad since the arrival of Marcelo Bielsa and brought in several young players over the summer.
Sam Greenwood arrived from Arsenal and made his Leeds debut during Sunday's 3-0 FA Cup defeat to Crawley Town.
Joe Gelhardt was also a substitute in that match after signing from Wigan in the summer, with Leeds moving swiftly to secure the signature of the highly-rated teenager.
Wigan's off-the-field problems, which saw them receive a 12-point deduction for administration last season and relegated them to League One, continue to cause them major problems.
Kai Naismith was the latest player to have their contract cancelled as Wigan try to stave off more penalties and lower their wage bill as the search for new owners continue.
Leeds, as a result, have lodged a bid for McGurk which has been rejected, according to The Sun.
The Whites may be back with an improved offer, though, the report states, with McGurk out of contract in the summer.
Whilst Leeds are keen to take the 17-year-old for a cut-price fee, interest from Rangers and Celtic could further complicate matters.
McGurk is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any European club, meaning both Scottish giants could tie up his signature this month without paying a transfer fee.
