Leeds United loan watch: Rafa Mujica returns to action with win over Deportivo

With Championship football given the chance to catch its breathe this weekend, international football was allowed to take centre stage.

Whilst some Leeds United players, such as Stuart Dallas and Mateusz Klich, were awarded the chance to represent their countries, it was a rare weekend off for the majority of Marcelo Bielsa's players.

And that trend escalated amongst the majority of the players that Leeds sent out on loan over the summer. Of the six players that the Whites allowed to leave Elland Road on temporary deals over the summer, only two of them were in action, with the four other players' clubs not in action over the weekend because of the international break.

Here, LeedsLive takes a close look at the two Whites players who did get some football under their belts over the weekend...

Conor Shaughnessy - Mansfield Town

Conor Shaughnessy has become something of a regular fixture in Mansfield boss John Dempster's plans in recent weeks, with the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international having now played the full 90 minutes in each of the Stags' last six matches.

This weekend, the 23-year-old helped Mansfield record a goalless draw away from home against a troubled Macclesfield Town side, meaning the Stags have now won just one of their last four league matches.

Opposed to playing at centre-back, Shaughnessy played slightly further up the pitch, taking up a role in central midfield.

Rafa Mujica - Extremadura UD

The only other Leeds loanee to be in action over the weekend was young Spanish forward Rafa Mujica, who featured for Extremadura for the first time in over a month.

He appeared as an 81st minute substitute as the Spanish second-tier side defeated bottom-of-the-table Deportivo 2-0 at home.

It was just Mujica's fourth appearance for the club since arriving over the summer.

Not in action

League One side Fleetwood Town and Sunderland were not in action due to the international break, meaning Lewie Coyle and Laurens De Bock had no games.

Jay-Roy Grot and Pawel Cibicki of Vitesse Arnhem and ADO Den Haag also had the weekend off as no Eredivisie fixtures were scheduled.
