Leeds United loan watch: Mujica scores on his debut, Balboa hits winner

Finally there was some material success for not one, but two of Leeds United’s loanees across this weekend.

LeedsLive takes a look at how the small pool of those temporarily away from Elland Road have got on across Europe this weekend.

Rafa Mujica - Villarreal B

The 21-year-old is into his second spell away from West Yorkshire in only his first season with the Whites.

Previously with Extremadura in Segunda Division, Spain’s second tier, Mujica is now with Villarreal B, who are third in Segunda Division B, Spain’s third tier.

After 26 minutes off the bench for his debut on January 26, Mujica started on Saturday at home to EU Llagostera.

Mujica scored the third goal in a 4-1 win in the 58th minute. It was a messy, close-range prod from a corner. He was taken off in the 71st minute.

Adrian Balboa - Lorca

One of the truly forgotten men of the under-23 ranks, 21-year-old Balboa also got on the scoresheet this weekend.

Balboa has put together a decent batch of minutes with Tercera Division (fourth tier) Lorca and finally scored his first goal in a 2-1 win over Cartagena B on Sunday. It was the winning goal.

Conor Shaughnessy - Burton Albion

The Irishman continues to string together a decent season in the lower leagues. After plenty of match time with Mansfield Town in League Two, it’s now with the Brewers in League One.

Shaughnessy played all 90 minutes at Nigel Clough’s side were beaten 3-2 at Rotherham United. Former Whites striker Oliver Sarkic was on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Laurens De Bock - ADO Den Haag

The Belgian left-back has been a regular under Alan Pardew in the Dutch top flight so far. He played another 90 minutes on Saturday in a goalless draw with Vitesse.

De Bock was rated at 6.7 by WhoScored.com, an average mark for the team.

Jay-Roy Grot - Vitesse

Talking of Vitesse, there was a United flavour to Saturday’s match in Eredivise, though Grot was only a late substitute for the visitors.

Grot’s five minutes in this game were his first since coming off the bench on December 17 for the Arnhem side.

Kun Temenuzhkov - La Nucia

At the time of writing, the Bulgarian striker, who only returned to Spain on loan on Friday, was named among the substitutes for La Nucia’s match with Valencia Mestalla in Segunda Division B. The match kicks off on Sunday afternoon.
