Leeds United loan watch - Lewie Coyle continues to set the bar for those away from Elland Road

Leeds United have already thrown down a gauntlet to their rivals across the opening weeks of the new Championship season, but the same cannot be said across the board for their players out on loan.

Marcelo Bielsa's side lead the second tier with five games gone and are unbeaten so far this campaign, with the Whites showing their skill and aplomb once again under the Argentine.

A handful of players deemed surplus to his current plans however are currently flying the flag for United around the world, from the North West of England to the Netherlands.

Just how did they fare this week? We take a look at some of the stars away from the Elland Road lights.

Lewie Coyle - Fleetwood Town

The right-back turned in a great performance at the back this week as the Cod Army recorded an emphatic 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley, notching up an assist for the opening goal.

He broke into the box to feed striker Paddy Madden just before the half-hour mark, and played the full 90 minutes.

With 10 points from five games, Joey Barton's side have now moved into the play-off places at this early juncture in the season.

Jay-Roy Grot - Vitesse Arnhem

The Eredivisie side haven't reached the top three for over 20 years, but have given themselves a genuine shot after going unbeaten through their opening four games.

Grot was on the wing once again as they ground out a draw against Heracles, having been out-gunned in possession throughout.

The 21-year-old played most of the game, before being replaced in the 88th minute by Oussama Darfalou.

Paweł Cibicki - ADO Den Haag

The Swedish striker saw his side reduced to 10 men and still run riot against RKC Waalwijk, but he had to do so from the bench.

He was an unused substitute as the Eredivisie side thrashed their newly-promoted opponents.

Rafa Mujica - Extremadura

The former Barcelona youth man only joined the Whites this summer, but has exited on loan to continue his development back in his native Spain for a season.

His arrival on Friday meant he was too late to be included in the squad for his new side's 2-1 defeat to Fuenlabrada in the Segunda Division, but he will be expected to join them in training this week.
