Leeds United loan watch - a weekend to forget

Leeds United maintained their promotion assault with a 2-0 win over West Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday afternoon, stretching their winning run to six games.

However, there was not so much joy for the six players that Leeds allowed to exit Elland Road on temporary loan deals over the summer, with none of them proving to be on the winning side for their respective loan clubs.

Here, we take a close look at just how they fared this weekend...

Lewie Coyle - Fleetwood Town

Of the six players that Marcelo Bielsa was happy to let leave Elland Road during the summer, it would be fair to say that Lewie Coyle has benefited the most.

He has been an ever-present figure for Joey Barton's Cod Army this term, playing every minute of their 17 league games so far.

But the right-back was powerless to stop Fleetwood falling to defeat against arch rivals Blackpool at the weekend, losing 3-1 at Bloomfield Road.

Laurens De Bock - Sunderland

Elsewhere in League One, there was not much joy for Sunderland loanee Laurens De Bock either. The left-sided player started for the first time since the first weekend in October but was helpless to stop the Black Cats' poor run of form continue.

Phil Parkinson's troops suffered a fourth defeat in their last five games in all competitions, going down late on 1-0 to Gillingham.

Conor Shaughnessy - Mansfield Town

Another player that stayed in England to try and gain more regular first-team minutes was Conor Shaughnessy.

He has enjoyed a solid start to life with Mansfield Town but he was unable to stop the League Two Stags from falling to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Cheltenham Town.

Shaughnessy was also deployed on the right side of a three-man defence, opposed to central defensive midfield where has been playing the bulk of his football for the Nottinghamshire club.

Pawel Cbicki - ADO Den Haag

Attacker Pawel Cibicki went to Holland over the summer in the hope of gaining more first-team minutes, but his time with Eredivisie club ADO Den Haag has not offered him as many opportunities as he would have hoped for.

He was an unused substitute in ADO Den Haag's goalless draw with FC Twente on Saturday, meaning he has made a total of just three appearances for the Dutch side.

Jay-Rot Grot - Vitesse Arnhem

Another player that swapped England for Holland over the summer was striker Jay-Rot Grot, with the 21-year-old joining Vitesse Arnhem.

And the former VVV-Venlo loanee has, though most of his appearances have been off the bench, been playing regularly.

But he was unable to help Vitesse take maximum points against Feyenoord, as they played out a goalless draw. The striker came off the bench as a 75th minute substitute.

Rafa Mujica - Extremadura UD

The third player that ventured overseas to try and get more first-team action was young forward Rafa Mujica, who joined Spanish club Extremadura UD.

But the 21-year-old has struggled to make an impact with the Spanish second-tier club and was left out of the squad that drew 1-1 with Albacete on Friday night.

To date, his time in Spain has amounted to just five appearances.
