Leeds United-linked Championship midfielder sends transfer message with mysterious celebration

Leeds United will be in the market for a handful of players this summer as Victor Orta aims to bolster Marcelo Bielsa's squad with top-quality additions.

One name who has arisen over the past few months is Reading's Michael Olise. The young Frenchman has taken the Championship by storm this year, scoring six times and registering ten assists.

The Royals' No. 7 is contracted at the Madejski Stadium until June 2022, but it has been rumoured has an £8 million release clause in his deal.

A whole host of clubs have been linked with the teenager, not just Leeds United, owing to his apparent availability and impact on the pitch.

Just last month, it was confirmed that Reading defender Omar Richards would be joining Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich on a free transfer.

Reading have a track record when it comes to allowing their top young players to leave for below market value, also seeing England youth international striker Danny Loader leave for FC Porto on a free transfer last summer.

The assumption has been that Reading would be keen to avoid such a scenario playing out again, meaning they would either need to tie Olise down to a new contract, or sell him this summer before he enters the last 12 months of his deal.

Olise netted his sixth goal of the season against Derby County on Easter Monday, lashing in a well-struck effort from just outside the penalty area on the stroke of half-time.

Shrugging off the congratulations of his teammates, Olise made pains to celebrate in an intriguing manner, appearing to crouch onto one knee and mimic the signing of a contract.

Whether this was intended as a come-and-get-me plea to the numerous suitors or a message to the Reading hierarchy over contract renegotiations, it is certainly one of the more blatant transfer messages concerning a Leeds United-linked individual.

Reading won the game in question by three goals to one, retaining their place among the promotion candidates in the EFL Championship play-offs.
