Bielsa to make Swift addition

Leeds United may not know which league they will be playing in next season but are eyeing a move for Reading midfielder John Swift.

The one-time Chelsea prospect, who has previously been involved with the England U21s, has struggled for form and fitness this campaign for the Royals.

According to Football Insider, Marcelo Bielsa’s promotion-chasing side have set their sights on Swift as a potential addition at Elland Road this summer. The talented playmaker could find himself heading up North, and donning the White shirt.

Rams reignite interest in Pennington

Derby County look set to reignite their interest in on-loan Ipswich Town defender Matthew Pennington, the East Anglian Daily Times reports.

Frank Lampard’s team had enquired about the Everton loanee in January, only for a deal to fall through as the 24-year-old remained at Portman Road.

The Rams could also rival Rangers for the services of Birmingham outcast Greg Stewart and Aberdeen defender Graeme Shinnie.

The Football Insider has said that Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard will go toe-to-toe this summer in a bid to bolster their squads with these players.

Both players are expected to become free agents in the summer, with Shinnie also interesting promotion hopefuls Bristol City and Sheffield United.

Blues may lose prospect

Meanwhile, Birmingham City forward Romello Mitchell could be on the move to Southampton in a potential £300,000 deal, according to the Daily Mail.

The Saints are eyeing the high-rated teenager in a deal that could rise as high as £1m. Manchester United, Liverpool and Leeds United are also rumoured to be following the 16-year-old, who has caught the eye during the Blues’ U16 and U18 games this season.
