Leeds United latest: Shackleton's Old Trafford chant, U18s do themselves proud, Bielsa to face press

Leeds United's under-18s side took centre stage on Wednesday night when they took on Manchester United at Old Trafford in the FA Youth Cup fifth round.

Here's a closer look at what was a battling, narrow defeat, plus the rest of this morning's latest Leeds United headlines...

Ten man Leeds go down at Old Trafford

Mark Jackson's men have been knocked out of the FA Youth Cup after a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

But that only tells half the story, as Leeds would play the final quarter of the match with ten men and push their hosts to the end, cheered on by almost 1,500 travelling fans.

Recap the match here and then dip into the fan reaction here, as supporters spoke of their pride following the battling defeat.

Shackleton chant

Another entertaining subplot at Old Trafford was the appearance of Jamie Shackleton in the away end - and he even got the odd chant going.

Watch him in action here.

Roofe on Leeds exit

Former Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe has given a new interview in which he’s talked about his departure in the summer and the club’s promotion prospects this season.

He finished as the club’s top scorer with 15 league goals as Leeds narrowly missed out on promotion and was subsequently sold to Anderlecht for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £6.5m.

Speaking to Jim White on TalkSport, he was asked whether he has any regrets about leaving Leeds and if he still follows how his old teammates are getting on.

Leeds legend on Augustin

Eddie Gray has given his verdict on Leeds United’s recent drop in form and who should be starting up front.

The legendary winger, who was recently honoured with the highest civic honour of the freedom of the city alongside the other members of the club’s all-time most successful team under Don Revie, was speaking on Proper Sport’s Club Call programme.

Still a regular spectator at Leeds games, Gray, 72, remains upbeat and positive, backing the players to turn their form around.
