Leeds United land striker, trio eyeing up Wells swoop - latest Championship rumours

The countdown to transfer deadline enters its final stages this week with clubs rushing to get deals done before the 11pm deadline on Friday night.

Here is the latest news, views and rumours from around the Championship.

Battle's on for Wells

Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and QPR are battling to sign Burnley striker Nahki Wells.

The former Huddersfield Town forward, 29, has been on loan at QPR but has now been recalled by Burnley.

QPR are keen on signing him permanently, although City are also interested in recruiting the Bermuda international, according to Bristol Live.

QPR chief executive Lee Hoos said: "I wouldn’t normally make any comments regarding potential transfer targets but in this instance it is important our supporters know we are keen to sign Nahki on a permanent basis.

"Our current valuations on the player are far apart and we cannot agree to a deal which will leave us in breach of FFP.

"We are working hard for a positive conclusion but we must ensure any agreement is financially viable for QPR."

Leeds sign striker

Leeds have completed the loan signing of RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin.

The 22-year-old has linked up with the Whites for the rest of the season and his move is with a view to a permanent deal.

Augustin, who came through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain, spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Monaco.

He was signed by Leipzig in 2017 for around £11m but returned to France last summer before moving across to the UK.

Millwall to land goalkeeper

Milwall are set to sign on loan goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski from Ipswich Town.

The big Pole had joined the Lions on a season-long loan deal last summer but Football Insider report the two clubs have agreed terms for a permanent transfer to take place.

The 32-year-old's contract at The Den will last until next summer.

He has played every league game for Millwall so far this season.

Forest midfielder departs

Nottingham Forest midfielder Claudio Yacob has left the club.

The 32-year-old Argentine has barely featured for the Reds following his switch from West Brom in 2018.

The former Argentina international played just 16 times for the City Ground side.

A statement from the Reds said "#NFFC can confirm that the club and midfielder Claudio Yacob have agreed to the mutual termination of his contract."

Clubs eye Taylor

Charlton Athletic are bracing themselves for bids from 'a number of Championship clubs' for striker Lyle Taylor.

The forward is in-demand this month and is reluctant to sign a new deal with the Addicks.

It means Lee Bowyer's side may have to cash in on the 29-year-old who, despite having a spell out injured, has scored seven goals in 14 games this season.

London News Online report Brentford are 'in the mix' for Taylor while West Brom are also keeping an eye on him.
