Leeds United keeping close eye on Danny Rose transfer saga as European giants enter race

Leeds United will be hoping that a bidding war will soon be underway for Tottenham defender Danny Rose.

The England left-back has been told he can leave Tottenham this summer after being excluded from the club's pre-season tour to Singapore as he looks for a new club.

Rose joined Spurs from Leeds more than a decade ago, with the Doncaster-born Thorp Arch academy product being sold for £1million before making a first-team appearance after the cash-strapped club was relegated to League One in 2007.

With Leeds canny enough to reportedly include a sell-on clause as part of the deal, speculation that top flight clubs from the big four European leagues are hoping to sign the defender could see Marcelo Bielsa's side land a bonus pay day.

LeedsLive's sister title The Sunday People report that Juventus are the latest side to enter the race to sign the 29-year-old, with former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri interested in taking him to Italy.

Paris Saint-Germain and Schalke have also been linked with a move for Rose, with the People also suggesting that new Newcastle boss Steve Bruce would offer an exit root that is closer to Rose's roots.

A fee of £20million has been mooted, which would earn Leeds just shy of £2million. The Italian transfer window shuts on August 23, two weeks after it does in England.
