Leeds United join Bristol City in race for Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah as Swansea City's hopes fade

Swansea City's hopes of landing Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah on loan appear to be fading.

It's understood that the Swans were keen to take the 20-year-old to the Liberty Stadium for the duration of the 2019/20 campaign.

However, such is Nketiah's promise, a raft of other clubs are keen on securing his services.

Championship rivals Bristol City, Cardiff City and Queens Park Rangers are among those linked with a swoop for the striker who is also attracting interest from a number of foreign sides.

And Leeds United are the latest team said to be in the running to capture Nketiah on loan.

Journalist Phil Hay claims that Marcelo Bielsa's side are considering a move for the frontman if the Whites decide to swoop for an out-an-out striker rather than going for Liverpool's Ryan Kent.

Nketiah has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners' first team, scoring three goals.

The Swans have Borja Baston and Courtney Baker-Richardson on their books while they have added both Kristoffer Peterson and Aldo Kalulu to their ranks, with both summer recruits capable of operating as a number nine.

They are also set to complete the loan signing of Bournemouth frontman Sam Surridge.

So it appears increasingly unlikely that Nketiah will link up with Steve Cooper during the 2019/20 season.
