Leeds United issued hands off warning over in-demand transfer target

Leeds United have been sent a hands off warning in their pursuit of Napoli midfielder Elif Elmas.

As previously reported, Leeds have had an offer turned down by Napoli for the player, according to Ciro Venerato Rai.

The transfer expert is reporting that the Whites have seen a £22.7million bid rejected for the 21-year-old, as well as some other European sides, thought to be Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach and RB Leipzig.

A report from Portugal has since suggested Benfica have also made an approach for the in-demand player.

Leeds have chased a midfielder since the summer when the Michael Cuisance deal fell through and had previously made a play for Elmas.

They may have to look elsewhere, however, with reports today in Italy claiming Napoli are determined to keep a player that is now being described by the club as 'untouchable.'

Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso wants to build his side around the rising star and the board of the Serie A club are prepared to back their manager, no matter what money comes in for the player.

Elmas joined the Naples-based side from Fenerbahce back in 2019 and has impressed during his time in Serie A.
