Leeds United issue Ezgjan Alioski injury update with suggested return date

Leeds United have confirmed that Ezgjan Alioski will miss his country's upcoming fixtures over the international break, but hinted he could be back when the Championship campaign resumes.

He's a key player for North Macedonia, who remain just about in contention for Euro 2020 qualification, needing to take six points from their final qualifiers against Austria and Israel to have any hope of making it.

The 27-year-old has adapted to a left-back role for Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa, but missed the last two games. Jack Harrison adapted to a left wing-back role in his absence against Queens Park Rangers, a 2-0 victory, while utility man Stuart Dallas played a more conventional left-back role in the 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers.

Barry Douglas returned to the bench against Blackburn, and Bielsa's options at left-back could be bolstered further with Alioski training at Thorp Arch as he battles to make it back for the away trip to Luton Town following the international break.

"Leeds United winger Ezgjan Alioski will miss North Macedonia’s forthcoming international matches against Austria and Israel with injury," read an official statement from the club.

"Alioski has missed the club’s last two Championship matches against Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers and will continue treatment at Thorp Arch, with a view to being fit after the international break."
