Leeds United injury crisis highlights why streetwise West Ham could be season's toughest test

Leeds United's upcoming test against a much-improved West Ham could not have been made tougher after an injury crisis.

The Whites will be without three of their four centre-backs this weekend and could potentially add Luke Ayling to their growing list of players in the treatment room.

Patrick Bamford has already checked in, with Raphinha and Jack Harrison potentially further adding to Marcelo Bielsa's woes.

With no wins from their first Premier League matches, Leeds need their best players out on the field but it will be a makeshift team to face the Hammers at Elland Road.

The gulf in class between the two sides, in respect to Premier League appearances, will be colossal, with Leeds likely to boast a little over 300 accumulative appearances.

Based from our predicted Leeds line-up for the match, Leeds could field an XI with 369 appearances between them, with Charlie Cresswell making his debut. Daniel James would be the highest capped player at top-flight level, with 64 appearances.

By stark contrast, West Ham have lots of experience in their dressing room. Their last Premier League starting XI had a combined appearance total of 1,414.

Across Lukas Fabianski and Kurt Zouma alone, they wrack a total higher than Leeds' full XI, highlighting the challenge facing Leeds against vastly more seasoned teams.

Of course, the likes of Stuart Dallas, Liam Cooper, Mateusz Klich and Rodrigo Moreno have lots of career appearances between them but isolating their Premier League experience shows the contrasting levels between the two sides.
