Leeds United injury and suspension list in full as attention turns to Cardiff City

Leeds United are back on top of the Championship table after they made it five wins in a row on Saturday.

Goals from Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford secured a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town and with West Bromwich Albion dropping points at Swansea, it was enough for Marcelo Bielsa's side to reclaim top spot.

There are now nine games to go and next up for the Whites is a long Sunday lunchtime trip to Cardiff City.

With no midweek game, Leeds will be looking to get a couple of injured players back on their feet.

Here's a look at the state of the club's current injury and suspension list...

Kalvin Phillips

The influential midfielder missed out against Huddersfield after struggling with a knee injury that he first sustained against Reading last month.

Phillips was subbed off against the Royal and missed the subsequent win over Middlesbrough, but did play against Hull City.

He struggled to get through that game and after training last week, the club decided prior to the clash against the Terriers that he would not be risked.

The club are confident that he will be back for the Cardiff match on Sunday. Expect an update from Bielsa in his pre-match press conference at the end of the week.

Jean-Kevin Augustin

January signing Jean-Kevin Augustin's wait for a first start continues with the forward sidelined with a hamstring problem.

His last appearance in a matchday squad was in the 1-0 win over Reading on February 22, with Bielsa issuing an update following the Middlesbrough victory.

"He has a muscular problem in his hamstring," was all that Bielsa disclosed, along with the fact that he would not be fit for the Hull game.

He also missed out against Huddersfield, with Bielsa confirming prior to the match that he was not yet fit.

Adam Forshaw

Adam Forshaw has been ruled out for the rest of the season after the club confirmed he underwent hip surgery in Colorado last month.

The midfielder has not played since September after originally suffering the problem during the pre-season friendly at Cagliari. After amending his training schedule to try and manage the problem, he aggravated the injury against Charlton Athletic and, after being unable to return to full fitness, all parties have decided season-ending surgery was the right way to go.

Leeds are hopeful he will return for the start of pre-season in the summer.

Ryan Edmondson and Leif Davis

The under-23s duo are both recovering from knee operations, with Edmondson earlier this month beginning a 12-week lay-off, while Davis was ruled out for a month towards the end of January.

Davis was spotted back in training last week.

Suspensions

Kiko Casilla has now served two of the eight matches he has been suspended for. He will again be available for the Barnsley clash on April 18. Bielsa confirmed last week he is continuing to train with the squad.

The cut off for a two-match ban for ten yellow cards has now passed, so there are no concerns on that front.
