Leeds United have identified Swansea City and Wales starlet Ben Cabango as a player who could bolster their defence next season, according to reports.
The young Welshman enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Swans last year, making 23 Championship appearances and becoming a mainstay for Steve Cooper's side towards the end of the campaign as they reached the play-offs.
His stock has risen greatly in the last few months, not least in the last week when he received a call-up to the senior Wales squad for the first time.
And that rise has not gone unnoticed at the top level of the game, with the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting Cabango is viewed as a potentially ideal addition to Marcelo Bielsa's squad.
It is reported that Leeds' priority in this transfer window is to sign an attacking player — Udinese's Rodrigo de Paul has been linked heavily in recent weeks — but a defender is also desirable.
The Whites' director of football, Victor Orta, is said to be a huge admirer of 20-year-old Cabango and he is high on the club's list of preferred targets, alongside Joško Gvardiol from Dinamo Zagreb, an aggressive 18-year-old central defender valued at around £18m.
Should a move to the Premier League materialise for the Welshman, however, it will represent nothing short of a meteoric rise for the Cardiff-born defender.
Just a year ago, Cabango was on loan at Welsh Premier League side TNS. Now, he is hoping to make his senior Wales debut, with fixtures against Finland and Bulgaria coming up, and, potentially, on the cusp of sealing a move to the top flight.
