Leeds United hit with double blow as they confirm Liam Cooper and Jamie Shackleton injury absences

Leeds United have been dealt another injury blow with the news that skipper Liam Cooper has been ruled out for six weeks after he limped off against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night.

The club have confirmed that the Scotland international sustained a groin injury that will keep him out until mid-November.

Jamie Shackleton was also forced off in the 1-0 win over the Baggies and the club have confirmed he will miss the next four weeks with a hamstring problem.

Cooper suffered the injury in the first half against Slaven Bilic's side and was replaced by Gaetano Berardi, who is now set to partner Ben White in central defence for the next block of fixtures before the mid-November international break.

Shackleton was himself deputising for Adam Forshaw, who has a hip problem, in central midfield, meaning Marcelo Bielsa will have to delve deeper into his squad.

Leeds make the trip to Millwall this weekend, before the October international break

Following that they have fixtures against Birmingham City (h), Preston North End (a), Sheffield Wednesday (a), QPR (h) and Blackburn (h) before the November lay-off.
