Leeds United hit with another attacking injury blow as first-teamer limps out of U23s clash

Leeds United have been handed another injury blow after Ian Poveda limped out of their under-23s clash against Sunderland.

The winger, who was a half-time substitute in the Premier League 2 clash went down less than ten minutes after his introduction, as he started limping and then fell to the floor after a coming together in the centre circle.

It looked to be an ankle problem and the former Manchester City man appeared to be in pain as he was helped from the pitch by one of the physios.

Leeds were 1-0 up thanks to a Tyler Roberts penalty when Poveda went down, with Jackson's side being reduced to ten men as they had used all three substitutes. Niall Huggins soon doubled their advantage.

Poveda's injury comes after Leeds suffered a host of injuries in the first-team's 3-1 win at Leicester City.

Record signing Rodrigo was taken off after 20 minutes with a groin issue, while Raphinha was also substituted after taking a knock in the final ten minutes. Patrick Bamford also appeared to be struggling in the closing stages.

Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that Rodrigo was undergoing a scan on Monday morning as he gave his pre-Everton press conference, but said Raphinha and Bamford's issue's were 'less worrying'.

Leeds take on Everton at Elland Road on Wednesday evening. Poveda has been in Leeds' matchday squad for each one of Leeds' 20 Premier League matches this season, making ten appearances off the bench.
