Leeds United hit by triple injury concern ahead of Nottingham Forest showdown

Leeds United have been dealt an injury blow ahead of next week’s clash with Nottingham Forest, and they also have concerns over two other players.

Steve Cooper’s side return to action after the international break on Saturday, when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City Ground. That match marks the start of what could be a decisive month for the Reds in their bid to secure Premier League survival.

After taking on Wolves, they then head to Elland Road next Tuesday for another key game in the relegation battle. Forest have had a significant absentee list in recent months - and there has been mixed news on that front during the two-week hiatus - but their upcoming opponents also have injury issues.

Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams has undergone hamstring surgery, according to the BBC. He is said to be facing an extended period on the sidelines.

Adams signed for the Whites from RB Leipzig last summer and has made 26 appearances this term. He was injured in training earlier this month and withdrew from the United States squad for their fixtures.

Meanwhile, defender Max Wober and midfielder Wilfried Gnonto seemingly picked up knocks while on duty with their countries. The former suffered a thigh problem while representing Austria, and Gnonto limped out of Italy’s win over Malta with what has been described as a sprained ankle.

Before the showdown with the Reds, Javi Gracia’s team make the trip to league leaders Arsenal this weekend. Our sister site LeedsLive reports Wober and Gnonto will be assessed on their return to Thorp Arch before a decision is made over whether the duo will travel to the capital.

Forest are level on points with the Whites but sit two places below them in the table, in 16th, due to their inferior goal difference. Both sides are two points above the drop zone.
