Here are the Leeds United morning headlines on Thursday, September 9, 2021.

FIFA ban Premier League Brazilians including Raphinha

After the Premier League confirmed that players would be unable to play in red list countries during the international break, FIFA have imposed a five-day ban on those players who did not represent their countries.

This includes Leeds winger Raphinha who missed out on his first call up for his country so that he would not miss any club matches due to quarantine or self isolation.

Furious that a large proportion of their players were not available for selection for their recent World Cup qualifiers, Brazil pushed FIFA to impose the ban on those players.

Leeds release new third kit

The club confirmed the design and colour of the new third kit yesterday evening following an endless amount of reactions to leaked variations of the shirt.

The purple shirt continues the Whites’ theme of selecting less than traditional colour schemes and as with most kits, it has been met with mixed reviews.

In the press release regarding the new shirt, Leeds confirmed that they had experienced record sales from the home and away kits that were released during the summer. They will be hoping for more of the same with the third kit and announced that it is available for purchase from 9am today.

U23s fall to Premier League Cup defeat

The Whites U23 side fell to their second defeat of the season as they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Wigan Athletic U23.

Leeds got themselves an early lead when Kris Moore opened the scoring inside the first 10 minutes but their lead lasted just two minutes as Divin Baningime headed in the equaliser.

The Latics soon completed the turnaround as Harry McHugh was given an easy finish in the 19 th minute. Leeds tried to get back on level terms in the second half but were unable to find the all-important goal.
