Leeds United have shown they have moved on from £10m Arsenal transfer gamble

Leeds United have once again been touted as potential suitors to sign Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

The Gunners forward spent the first half of the 2019/20 on loan at Elland Road but struggled to make an impact, scoring twice from the bench.

He returned to Arsenal and has been part of Mikel Arteta's first-team plans since but hasn't managed to cement a place in the side.

Nketiah is out of contract in the summer and has shown little indication he is willing to pen fresh terms, which could see the club try to cash in come January.

As a result, it's little surprise to see the 22-year-old's name floating around the transfer rumour mill as Arsenal try to drum up interest.

With that in mind, journalist Ekrem Konur has stated that Leeds, Aston Villa and Brentford are monitoring his situation with interest.

However, given Marcelo Bielsa's overriding commitment to Patrick Bamford, whilst still trying to solve the Rodrigo Moreno puzzle, it seems very unlikely another forward would arrive at Elland Road.

Bielsa likes to work with a tight-knit squad and with Nketiah exclusively playing up front, unlike Rodrigo and Tyler Roberts, is difficult to envisage how Nketiah would slot into the make-up of the squad.

Leeds have preached a quality over quantity stance in the summer transfer market but still moved to sign Daniel James despite as though their business was finished.

That showcases that Leeds will approach every possible deal on its merits, rather than one blanket approach. Nonetheless, the likelihood of this deal feels slim.
