Leeds United have a key advantage over West Brom and other rivals in Championship run-in

Leeds United have one of the easiest run-ins of any Championship side, on paper, and the easiest of any side currently in the top six.

With the EFL announcing plans for the second tier to return on June 20, attention is turning to the remaining fixtures, with all teams in the division having nine games left to play.

Leeds’ remaining opponents have an average league position of 14.6, meaning things are theoretically easier for Marcelo Bielsa’s side than second-placed West Bromwich Albion (12.4) and current play-off place occupants Fulham (9.4), Preston North End (12.1), Nottingham Forest (12.6) and Brentford (13.3).

Here’s a run-down of which fellow top-six sides each of the frontrunners still have to play:

Brentford - West Brom (h), Preston (h), Fulham (a)

Bristol City - Nottingham Forest (a), Preston (h)

Fulham - Leeds (a), Nottingham Forest (a), West Brom (a), Brentford (h)

Leeds - Fulham (h)

Nottingham Forest - Bristol City (h), Fulham (h), Preston (a)

Preston - Nottingham Forest (h), Brentford (a), Bristol City (a)

West Brom - Brentford (a), Fulham (h)

Indeed, only four teams in the entire division have an easier time of it, on paper, with Millwall - whose opponents have an average position of 16.7 - the team which can feel best about the run-in based on fixtures alone.

Other than Fulham, only Derby County (7.2) and Sheffield Wednesday (9.3) are preparing to take on opponents whose average position is in the top 10.
