Leeds United handed pre-season fitness boost with player's injury return

A fitness boost has been handed to Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds United with the return to action of stricken winger Helder Costa.

The Angola international was last seen in action as Aaron Wan-Bissaka wrestled him to the floor by the dugouts at Elland Road on April 25.

After remaining on the turf for a minute or so, clutching his back, Costa eventually received medical treatment before being replaced by Mateusz Klich.

The 27-year-old was able to limp away down the tunnel, but Bielsa soon ruled him out for the rest of the campaign in the days after the clash with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

While the Argentine happily revealed there were expected to be no issues with Costa returning to Thorp Arch for the start of pre-season, the wide man has returned to some fitness work already.

Bielsa is not expected to have the squad back in West Yorkshire for another fortnight or so, but after missing the final weeks of the season, Costa is getting started now.

After taking a holiday in Dubai, Costa is now back in Lisbon and working with trainer Igor Sanchez.

After suffering such a serious injury, Costa will no doubt be relieved to be exercising and getting active once more.
