Leeds United handed massive FA Cup ticket allocation for West Ham United tie

Leeds United have been given an allocation of almost 9,000 for their visit to West Ham United in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday, January 9.

The Whites will be hoping to progress beyond that stage of the competition for the first time in five years but have been handed a very tough test.

David Moyes’ side are enjoying another good season and, as well as challenging for the Champions League places, they are also in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.

Although, with the backing of 8,900 supporters, Leeds will be confident of beating the Hammers at the London Stadium in their second game of 2022.

Matches in the cup competitions tend to see the visiting team handed larger allocations than they would be given for league fixtures however, that hasn’t always been the case.

Earlier this season, Arsenal gave the Whites just 5,200 tickets despite usually giving visiting teams a larger away end for cup games.

The Gunners claimed that the persistent standing of the Leeds fans on their visit to the Emirates in January 2020 was the reason for the decision.

It was a choice that was heavily questioned by supporters and officials at the club considering that, in England, it is rare to see visiting fans sat down in away ends despite being advised to do so throughout games.

Those fans will be much happier to see the massive allocation they have been allowed for the FA Cup tie at West Ham, giving plenty of season ticket holders the chance to travel to the capital in the new year.

It is extremely likely that all 8,900 tickets will be sold with the Whites having a brilliant record of selling out away ends up and down the country.

All of the official information regarding the release of the tickets can be found on the club website here with the first batch releasing on Wednesday, December 15.
