Leeds United handed major double fitness boost for Tottenham Hotspur clash

Leeds United have been handed a major double fitness boost ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Elland Road with the return of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.

While Raphinha has missed the last three matches through injury, Phillips joined him on the sidelines at the weekend when their team-mates lost 2-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion.

As recently as yesterday morning, head coach Marcelo Bielsa was still refusing to be drawn on their chances for Saturday.

The Argentine was not prepared to say anything more than they were under a daily evaluation in the run-up to the Elland Road clash this weekend.

Hopes were low they would be available for Spurs in light of those comments, but in a training video published by the club on Friday, both are back in training.

The talismanic duo are both recorded training fully with their team-mates at Thorp Arch, though, naturally, footage has not been released of them in match practice.

It remains to be seen whether Bielsa is happy enough with their condition to start them against Ryan Mason’s side.

Phillips is almost certainly set to start given how little training he has missed, while Raphinha has faced a lot longer on the sidelines and Bielsa may not take a risk with him.
