Here is your Leeds United morning digest for Saturday, August 8.
Phillips offers injury update
Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips has revealed he is ahead of schedule as he recovers from the knee injury he suffered towards the latter stages of last season.
Phillips hurt his knee in the 1-0 win over Swansea City and missed the final three matches due to the problem.
However, the Leeds midfielder said to the club’s official website: “I’ve been away with Tyler (Roberts), Ben (White) and some of the lads for a few days, then as soon as I came back, I’ve started working on the physio for my knee.
“It’s all looking good, I’m just happy that I’m looking after myself and I’m probably a couple of weeks ahead of schedule.”
Leeds best and worst transfer window scenarios
As Leeds prepare for life back in the Premier League, Graham Ruthven has assessed the best and worst case scenarios that could happen in the summer transfer window.
Best case: On-loan defender Ben White signs a new deal at Elland Road following his brilliant season at the heart of the Whites’ defence, a proven goalscorer is signed by Marcelo Bielsa and Pablo Hernandez’s long-term replacement is found.
However, teams have got their transfer windows wrong as they prepare for their first season back in the Premier League.
Worst case: White doesn’t return, with Brighton & Hove Albion keen to keep him at the Amex Stadium, Leeds don’t sign a “big-name striker”, and Phillips is signed following his brilliant campaign in the Championship.
