Leeds United handed Kalvin Phillips blow as Marcelo Bielsa confirms team to face Huddersfield Town

Leeds United will be without Kalvin Phillips for this afternoon's clash against Huddersfield Town.

The midfielder has been struggling with a knee issue since he limped out of last month's win over Reading and is replaced in the starting XI by Gaetano Berardi.

Leeds are confident that Phillips will be back for next weekend's trip to Cardiff City.

Illan Meslier makes his Elland Road debut in goal, in front of a back-four of Luke Ayling, Berardi, Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas.

White takes up the Phillips role in midfield, with Mateusz Klich and Pablo Hernandez in front of him.

Jack Harrison and Helder Costa will provide the width, while Patrick Bamford keeps his place up front.

Tyler Roberts, who scored twice off the bench at Hull last weekend, is again among the substitutes. Oliver Casey and Pacsal Struijk are the two changes on the bench, replacing Berardi and Jordan Stevens.

Leeds United: Meslier, Ayling, White, Cooper, Dallas, Berardi, Klich, Harrison, Costa, Hernandez, Bamford

Subs: Caprile, Stuijk, Alioski, Douglas, Shackleton, Casey, Roberts

Leeds begin the weekend sitting second on the table, a point off leaders West Bromwich Albion who are in action at Swansea City this afternoon.
