Leeds United handed boost over Aston Villa target as Swansea City star linked with Italian giants - transfer rumours

Here are the latest rumours from around the Championship as the European transfer window enters its final week.

Sampdoria want Ayew

Italian outfit Sampdoria have offered Andre Ayew a Swansea City exit, according to the Daily Star .

Following the Swans' relegation from the Premier League, the one-time £20m buy was shipped out on loan.

This season, however, he has been reintegrated to the squad by Steve Cooper this season and has made a telling impact.

However, Serie A side Sampdoria want a contribution from Swansea towards his reported 80k-a-week wages.

Leeds United handed Phillips boost

Leeds United's hopes of tying Kalvin Phillips to a new contract have been handed a boost.

The 23-year-old was subject to intense speculation over the summer, with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur credited with an interest.

Neither club were willing to stump up the Whites' price tag of £30m and now United are in talks over a new deal to fend off January transfer interest.

Phillips' agent, former Leeds man Kevin Sharp, is reported to have said talks are looking ‘very promising.’

Karanka not after Huddersfield job

Aitor Karanka has ruled himself out of the running for the Huddersfield Town job, according to the Huddersfield Examiner.

The former Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest boss told Spanish media of his desire to seek out a new “project” and that he would be "open to moving anywhere".

However, it doesn't like he'll be moving to West Yorkshire as the club close in on an appointment.

The favourite for the job remains German Hannes Wolf, a former boss of Hamburg.

Bony to make Inter move?

Former Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony is being considered by European giants Inter Milan.

That's according to reports in Italy, with Tuttosport stating that new boss Antonio Conte is looking for a back-up striker for Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian joined the Nerazzurri in the summer, but Conte is keen to add further firepower to his ranks as his side gear up for their Serie A opener against Lecce on Monday evening.

The San Siro club have been in talks with Manchester United over a loan deal for Alexis Sanchez but that deal appears to be stalling.
