Leeds United great issues defiant promotion message despite loss at Brentford

Former Leeds United star Tony Dorigo has issued a strong message after the shock loss at Brentford.

The Whites were looking to get back to winning ways after the disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to ten-man Wigan Athletic on Good Friday.

But Marcelo Bielsa's men didn't respond and instead were easily beaten 2-0 in the capital.

Whilst Patrick Bamford should have had a penalty for an obvious foul in the first half when the game was still goalless, the Whites' defending also left a lot to be desired.

Dorigo was critical of the way his former side didn't handle the pressure but he insisted that the players and the fans must get a sense of perspective and realise there is a lot still to play for.

"It was certainly very disappointing. I expected the second half to be far more intense," Dorigo, who was on Sky Sports pundit duties, explained.

"I think the pressure got to Leeds. You look at the Wigan match and today's game, those two contests were not the best of Leeds United.

"But the important thing is that this doesn't creep into the last few games.

"The Championship is crazy. Unfortunately for Leeds just listening to the fans, it's hugely disappointing.

"But they have to get rid of that disappointment and build some confidence going into the play-offs."
