Leeds United given positive news in pursuit of Club Brugge goalkeeper Senne Lammens

Club Brugge signing England under-21 goalkeeper Joe Bursik could open the door for Leeds United to poach Senne Lammens. Scott Parker was recently appointed manager of the Belgian outfit and wasted no time in taking his compatriot with him.

Bursik had lost his place at Stoke City to Jack Bonham, making zero appearances since a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham on November 5. His arrival in Brugge, however, could allow Leeds to capitalise on the transfer merry-go-round.

Jesse Marsch is reportedly keen on signing a promising understudy to current first choice Illan Meslier. Chelsea are among several European clubs that have reportedly been tracking the undisputed number one at Elland Road.

As it stands, Josh Robles - signed last summer on a free transfer from Real Betis - is the backup option. While Leeds have already spent close to £50million this month, signing Lammens would unlikely raise that figure further.

The Belgium under-21 goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of the season. Outlet HLN claim a Leeds move inched a step closer once Parker signed Bursik from Stoke. Lammens is now the third-choice goalie, with former Sunderland and Liverpool man Simon Mignolet the main man.

As mentioned, the Whites have already splashed the cash in January to aid Marsch in his bid to stay in the division. Maximilian Wober - who played under the American at Red Bull Salzburg - arrived earlier this month and Georginio Rutter has just joined for a club-record fee.
