Leeds United given Illan Meslier deadline, Tottenham eyeing Eberechi Eze - latest Championship rumours

The Championship campaign is currently on hold for the foreseeable future due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The pandemic has brought the country to a standstill, with top-flight football now suspended until April 30 at the earliest.

And with no on-field action now able to take centre stage , it is most likely that transfer talk will dominate the headlines in the coming weeks and months.

With that in mind, here is a round-up of the latest transfer rumours from across the Championship.

Leeds given Meslier deadline

Leeds United have to activate the £5million option to sign Illan Meslier permanently from Lorient by a certain date.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that the trigger option in Meslier’s loan contract is set to expire in mid-May.

The stopper has kept clean sheets in his first two Championship matches, before the suspension of football due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Derby struggling to keep star prospects

Derby County are set to face a fight to keep Jason Knight and Louie Sibley due to the current financial crisis.

The Rams  pair have been, according to The Sun, have been targeted by Premier League clubs in recent months after breaking into the first team this season.

And that same publication is reporting that there is a growing feeling that low offers will come in for the pair this summer because the Championship club are going to feel some financial pain as a result of the enforced break due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Tottenham eyeing Eberechi Eze

Tottenham are eyeing a summer swoop for Queens Park Rangers star  Eberechi Eze.

According to The Sun, Spurs’ top scout Brian Carey saw the midfielder, 21 in action in his side's 3-1 win at Preston earlier this month.

The report also states that QPR want around £20million and that price tag has already put off  Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.
