Leeds United get unlikely promotion backing as new club badge remains under wraps

Here is your Leeds United morning digest for Sunday, April 26.

Whites players in WhatsApp group chat banter

Leeds players appear to be keeping themselves entertained during the current football hiatus through the players’ Whatsapp group chat.

Despite being unable to interact in person, Stuart Dallas has revealed that the players are keeping in regular contact via the mobile messaging service.

Naturally, the conversations involve playful mocking of one another particularly when it comes to social media.

Dallas revealed that Barry Douglas has been on the receiving end of stick from the rest of the team over a recent Instagram.

“Barry loves an Instagram post, doesn’t he? So I thought I would give him a bit of stick.” Dallas admitted.

Leeds remain cagey over club crest design

Leeds are yet to reveal next season’s club crest following this year’s special centenary design.

This season, the badge has had the years ‘1919’ and ‘2019’ either side of the shield to celebrate the club’s 100th birthday.

However, a new crest is expected for next year given the centenary celebrations will have passed.

It is unclear what the club plan to do with the badge going forwards.

Savage backs Leeds for promotion despite cancellation fears

Leeds have received backing from an unlikely ally in Robbie Savage in the debate over how football should proceed following the current break.

With no clear indication whether the season will finish or if the campaign will be declared null and void, the Whites’ potential top flight return hangs in the balance.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side currently sit top of the Championship, seven points clear of third place with 9 games remaining.

However, if the season is to be voided at this stage, they could find themselves facing another season in the second tier.

Savage used his Mirror column to leap to Leeds’ defence.

“Let's look at some of the damage cancelling this season would do. Ask yourself if it is right and fair to expunge a whole range of achievements.

“Who's going to tell Leeds fans it was all in vain?”
