Leeds United forward Oliver Sarkic seals permanent move to League One side

Leeds United have confirmed that forward Oliver Sarkic has joined Burton Albion on a permanent move.

The 22-year-old turned out for the Brewers in their pre-season friendly win over Chesterfield at the weekend and did enough to convince Burton boss Nigel Clough to make a move.

Sarkic joined Leeds from Benfica in 2018 and spent last season out on loan at Barakaldo CF, but has now become the latest fringe player to depart the club this summer.

The Montenegro under-21 international played 58 minutes for Burton at the weekend, which Clough confirming that he was considering signing up the player.

"I'm not sure yet," Clough told DerbyshireLive afterwards.

"He (Sarkic) has got a couple of offers from abroad, I think, so I'm just going to have a chat with him now.

"His representative put us on to him, so we'll see what his situation is.

"He's played very little football so far this pre-season, and that was the only thing - he's just a bit short, fitness wise.

"But with us being so short on bodies, we're just going to check out the situation.

"He'd be extra to what we are already looking at.

"I told you on Tuesday that we had a loan lined up - but with David Templeton getting injured, we had to change to other priorities, which we have done.

"We've got an okay on one which should be Tuesday next week. Sarkic will be extra to that if we can."
