Leeds United fined by the FA for Championship promotion celebrations at Derby County

Leeds United have been fined £20,000 by the Football Association for their Championship title celebrations at Derby County following their 3-1 win over the Rams.

Leeds banished the demons from the 2018/19 season when they lost in the play-offs to Derby following the spygate scandal that campaign by coming back from behind to win at Pride Park.

Pablo Hernandez, Jamie Shackleton and an own goal from Matthew Clarke ensured a famous victory for Marcelo Bielsa's men.

But it has been determined that the Whites 'failed to conduct themselves in an orderly fashion as pyrotechnic devices were used' after the match.

Leeds had already earned promotion back to the Premier League and beaten West Brom to the title at that point but the win over Derby was the icing on the cake.

But now the Football Association have confirmed the penalties for the post-match goings on which have cost Leeds £20,000.

"Leeds United FC has been fined £20,000 and warned as to its future conduct after admitting a breach of FA Rule E20," the FA spokesman Twitter account posted this afternoon.

"The club failed to ensure that its players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion as pyrotechnic devices were used following the completion of a fixture against Derby County FC in the EFL Championship on 19 July 2020."
