Leeds United favourite explains Bayern Munich transfer interest as transfer plans are outlined

Here is your Leeds United morning digest for Monday June 1.

Yeboah on Leeds move

Anthony Yeboah has revealed that he had offers from big Bundesliga clubs before he moved to Leeds United in 1995.

He signed for Leeds from Eintracht Frankfurt after a row with coach Jupp Heynckes - but there were plenty of other clubs in Germany interested in signing the striker.

“Normally I should have gone to Bayern Munich but Frankfurt would not allow it because the fans would kill them so they said, 'No, we are not allowing you to go,' even though Bayern was 100 percent interested,” Yeboah revealed to GTV Sports Plus.

“I didn’t know Leeds but when the offer came I said, ‘Why not?’"

Yeboah averaged almost a goal a game in his two-year spell at Elland Road.

Bielsa making quartet of summer signings

Marcelo Bielsa will not be splashing the cash this summer – even if his side return to the Premier League as expected, according to reports.

The coach will put his faith in the squad that have served him well so far – but he does intend to complete four major signings with a total outlay of £48million, reports Football Insider.

The permanent signing of Helder Costa is expected to cost £15m, while Jean-Kevin Augustin’s deal is thought to be worth £18m.

Two other loan stars could stay at Elland Road, commanding transfer fees of £15m apiece - Jack Harrison and Illan Meslier.

Cardiff fixture questions

Leeds could find themselves with a rejigged fixture schedule should the season resume.

Their next match when the season paused was due to be at Cardiff City - who have reported a positive coronavirus test in the latest round of routine health checks.

The staff member has since gone into isolation, and Neil Harris’ squad have continued with training as normal, with no issues currently reported among the players.

The EFL have yet to confirm whether or not the season will be played to a finish.
