Leeds United fans will love ‘plans’ to be presented by Premier League for coronavirus solution

Leeds United fans will love potential plans that will be reportedly presented to the Premier League later this week.

All four of England’s top divisions are currently suspended until April 3 following the outbreak of the coronavirus and Premier League officials are set to meet on Thursday to discuss plans for how the 2019-20 season will end.

The Sun are reporting that plans for next season that will be discussed include a 22-team Premier League for the 2020-21 season that will see no Premier League side relegated at the end of this season. This would also lead to the Carabao Cup being axed.

Their report states that this current campaign could end as late as July and with no side set to be relegated, Leeds and West Bromwich Albion, the Championship’s top two sides, would be handed promotion.

Should that happen, there would be 42 rounds of Premier League fixtures as opposed to 38 which therefore, would lead to the scrapping of the Carabao Cup. It would also mean that five teams would be relegated at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

The Telegraph have also reported that there is currently little opposition to seeing Liverpool being handed the league title. Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently 25 points clear at the top of the table and only need two more wins to clinch their first top-flight title in 30 years.
